What Is Your Quest?
To spread knowledge to one and all, to cast light upon the darkness with the help of science, and to dress like a flash Victorian time traveler whilst doing so.

Many scientists were not impressed by his findings. Mainly due to the fact that it could not be proven by the methods of traditional mechanics. What I find is common (and amusing) throughout the study of quantum physics and related fields of interest is that most of the tests that are done are simply to disprove certain things. A famous test was to prove that electrons did NOT behave like particles but instead behave like waves when unobserved. Why is this? I’m not sure they figured that one out. How does observation directly interact with the state of matter? No one really knows… but they know that it does.
Bernard d'Espagnat can be a hard person to find book on for two particular reasons. Firstly he published over 20 books and papers on the subject of veiled reality between 1965 and 2008. Secondly they are all in French. Regardless he did a lot to bring scientists and philosophers together on subjects long considered marginal but which today serve as the foundation for new fields of research into the nature of reality. The particular reason I enjoy this field of study so much is the same reason I used to hate it. It’s all mostly theory and postulation. Things that cannot be out rightly proven but instead they can be imagined.
Imagine a world beyond our own. Or perhaps it exists rite here next to us but we simply lack the necessary senses to detect it.
Ahhh Schrödinger's cat. If I had a nickel for every time I heard about that theory I’d have a fist full of nickels. What I find is interesting is that it seems to apply to so many things and that it is, in essence, the vary definition of quantum physics. The whole business with Hardy's paradox also falls in with it, that whereupon observing matter or photons can change its state and interaction with other matter. Because of its bizarre implications, quantum theory has been used to investigate everything from free will and the paranormal to the enigma of consciousness. Several serious physicists have devoted their lives to the study of such ideas, including Bernard d'Espagnat. Based on quantum behavior, Dr. d'Espagnat's big idea is that science can only probe so far into what is real, and there's a "veiled reality" that will always elude us which is where it ties directly into religion. Wicked stuff. The idea that we have even a finite control over matter through something as simple as observation gives us great power.
Anyhoo, enough science ramble. Can’t imagine how boring I sound. Ha ha.
So when is the next TSS gathering? I got a bit of tech in the works that I was hoping to show off.
Arg fungal contamination! That can be the worst. "The pits" as it were. I myself am looking into getting an electronic microscope to plug into my comp. Perhaps we could go over your samples sometime? I hear the microscope can take pictures and/or record video. So that’s kinda cool. As for my research, I’ve been going over the basics of the theory of entanglement (the theory that two particles or atoms can be invisibly linked or “entangled” to one another regardless of distance or obstacles) or as Einstein called it “spooky physics”. It’s pretty cool and I think one of my favorite parts of the research is the baffled reaction of the stuffy scientists working on it. I think I may take on physics as my general field of study and work inward from there. Oh! I found some photos from a steampunk picnic. They were pretty cool. Can’t wait to meet the rest of the gang.

Wow, I should probably update me page with new photos and stuff.
